Lake Buhui

Historic:
1773 – The first families of Austrian settlers arrive in the area. He founds the colony Steierer - Dorf which later bears the name Steierdorf and turns into a neighborhood of the city of Anina.
1834 – The Austro-French company "Cesar Imperial Austrian Privileged Society of State Railways" (STEG) was founded. The founders were the Viennese bank "S.G. Sina", "Arnstein & Eskeles" from Vienna and by "Socièté Générale de Crèdit Furniture from Paris".
1835 – The first resin plantations are made: fir, spruce, larch, Douglas fir, black pine,
Scots pine, Scots pine. The species of deciduous trees planted were: ash, poplar, cherry, oak pedunculate.
1855 – The government of Vienna concessions forests, forest railways to STEG and coal mines.
1860 – The first forest cadastre for forests is created.
1864 – The first forest exploitation plan is drawn up.
1884-1888 – The Buhui Reservoir dam is built for the supply
with water of the city of Anina and industrial activities.
1904 – Buhui dam repair work.
1920 – "Uzinele de Fier si Domeniile Reşita" is established by the Romanian state,
joint stock company keeping the big international owners of STEG: the trust
English Vickers & Armstrong Ltd., Austrian bank Boden Kredit Anstallt and company
Swiss Continental Trust for Bank & Industrial Values ​​from Basel.
1939 – Buhui dam repair work.
1948 – All goods become the property of the state through nationalization so that
the forest passes under the administration of the Forestry Inspectorate and the dam under the Office of Water management.
1966 – Buhui Dam repair work.
1990 – the forest managed by the Forestry Inspectorate is transferred to the Autonomous Region of the State RNP- Romsilva and the dam is transferred from the Office of the Economy a Water at the Romanian Waters National Administration.
2005-2007 – The Buhui Dam is being rehabilitated, the spillway and facilities are being rebuilt components.                                                                                                              Buhui reservoir
It is the first artificial reservoir in Romania built on limestone.
Average supply water flow: 0.17m3/s.
The gross water volume of the reservoir: 505.45 thousand cubic meters.
Altitude of the dam crown: 652m.
Dam height: 17m.
Length of the dam front: 54m.
Dam base width: 63m.
Dam crest width: 8m.
Maximum surface of water accumulation: 10.07ha.
Dam type:
◦ Weight dam with a body made of layered clay soil
thin
◦ The outer surfaces have a shell of arocamences and on the crown is
built a road and pedestrian walkway.
